The Great Shakes - The band have nicknamed this part of the day their “Strolling Minstrel Set “ where they wander among the wedding party playing acoustic instruments; usually soprano sax, mandola and guitars . The songs they sing are mostly jazz based “rat pack” style numbers and because they play unplugged it fits in perfectly with the traditional champagne reception ambiance. The fact that the musicians are “mobile” makes the set very unusual and some guests have said that this was one of the most enjoyable parts of the day! The “Strolling Minstrel Set” usually lasts for 30 minutes and the rest of that period is covered by cd or ipod playing background music of the bride and grooms choice.
Most couples choose to have lots of dance music as soon as the speeches are finished but the band are very flexible and are happy to fit in with most plans so if a more “laid back” start to the party is required then it’s no problem . The set is rooted in the sixties and seventies with a sprinkling of current classics. You’ll hear lots of Beatles ,Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Stones, Elvis, Bob Marley , Marvin Gaye mixed in with the odd Coldplay or Oasis number.
Lou Jordan is ELVIS TO THE STARS - One day I switched on the television and discovered Elvis. He was singing to a live audience in a show called “The 68 Comeback Special”. I remember it vividly, being the only one in the room, watching Elvis for the very first time. I was hooked. From then on it was Elvis and nothing else My career highlight was being interviewed on NBC who were doing a story on Elvis's 18th number one 'A little less conversation' then being filmed performing in front of a live audience. The show was aired on National television across America. Performing for and meeting numerous celebrity stars of stage and screen, hence coining the name “Elvis to The Stars”. These days I'm being flown regularly around the world to bring the King to life performing for large corporate events, or private parties and public spectacles. People often ask me how I keep up my high standards of performance and I tell them that I love to entertain and I feel privileged being able to do what I do.
