Domaine de Bellgarde.

The “Domaine de Bellgarde” is an impressive late 19th Century stately home that has been beautifully restored to a high standard. It is set in 6 acres of peaceful wooded parklands with century old trees and picturesque gardens. The property is located in a village bordered on one side by the Atlantic Ocean with an incredible 200km stretch of golden sandy beaches and on the other side by a fresh water lake (5km x 2km) for sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and swimming. The largest pine forest in Europe encompasses the whole region with numerous level cycle trails and walking paths leading to the lakes and beaches.

On the grounds of the property there is a lovely and brand new 15m x 7m  heated swimming pool (pool temperature is guaranteed to be in excess of 28C from April to end September inclusive) with a poolside terrace (perfect for alfresco dining), BBQ / outdoor cooking facilities and a tennis court. The extensive gardens and terraces are perfect for outdoor entertaining and there is plenty of space for parking.

The property has a choice of nine individually-designed bedrooms, thoughtfully decorated with contemporary décor and furniture. Each of the rooms vary in character, but all are of a generous size and offer the luxury of modern en-suite bathrooms (one with a sauna, one with a Jacuzzi), TV / DVD, hairdryers, fluffy bathrobes, toiletries, fresh flowers and lovely garden views. Some of the rooms have four-poster beds, marble fireplaces, balconies and two of the rooms share a large terrace overlooking the garden. There is a grand reception lounge and hall, spacious dining room, billiards room –all with high ceilings, original oak parquet floors and an impressive staircase. Wireless internet access is available in the property.

The property is only two minutes from beautiful fresh water lakes, ten minutes from wonderful ocean beaches (Vieux-Boucau, Hossegor and Moliets), twelve golf courses including three of world class standard (voted in the Worlds Top 50 golf courses) are within fifteen minutes, twenty minutes from the spa town of Dax, famous for its Hydrotherapy, thirty minutes from Biarritz and Bayonne with their superb shops and just forty minutes from the Pyrenees and Spain.

Like most of the south west coast, there is an endless choice of activities from surfing to sailing, cycling, walking, kayaking, go-karting, sightseeing and much more.

The cost of a client’s holiday includes the following on a weekly basis:

• Champagne / soft drinks / coffee / tea reception
• Daily luxury breakfast (Cooked English & Continental breakfasts) served on the poolside terrace, in the grand dining room or in the privacy of your own room
• Daily afternoon tea with a selection of cakes, muffins, biscuits, tea, coffee, soft drinks & juices
• Three gourmet lunches consisting of a gourmet BBQ served on the poolside terrace; wine/beer/soft drinks included & two 3-course lunches served on the poolside terrace; wine/beer/soft drinks included
• Three gastronomic four-course evening meals with complimentary regional wine served either inside in the grand dining room or alfresco-style, on the poolside terrace. A-la-carte wine list will also be available.
• Free use of sporting equipment including tennis, table-tennis, badminton, croquet, boules, football, volleyball and Frisbee (18 mountain bikes available at no extra charge).
• Drinks minibar and ice-creams available by the pool
• All linen including large bath towels, hand towels, bathrobes and pool towels
• All cleaning and hosting services during the holiday from a team of four staff in addition to ourselves

Structuring the meals in this way allows clients a few evenings to sample some of the finest restaurants of the region, many of which specialise in fresh seafood and the fantastic locally grown produce such as asparagus, foie gras, landes chicken, truffles, Armagnac and even kiwis produced throughout the region. We would be happy to make recommendations on some of the best places to dine. We are very happy to discuss your exact requirements which can be modified from the structure as stated above or taken as an extra and charged separately e.g. we are able to offer all evening meals if this suits the client better.

There are plenty of activities and games including surfing, tennis, beach games and mountain biking. We will happily arrange daily activities on your behalf including golf on some of the best courses in the world, surf school, sailing, kayaking, cycling trips, go-Karting and much more. The beautiful countryside boasts glorious chateaux, charismatic small towns and sumptuous vineyards with fantastic wines. Of course, at any time you can enjoy a game of tennis or volleyball or you may simply prefer to relax in the sunshine by the pool with a glass of champagne or a good book!
