Chateau du Parc

Completely surrounded in vineyards and wonderful countryside, you will find Château du Parc, once a residence for priests. The Château spreads its wings out from a central 18th century, typically Bordeaux style and smoothly finishes off with two beautiful towers. The attention to detail is superb, retaining all the original features such as the stone and marble fireplaces, oak beams, wooden floors, and the original Gironde tiles. The decor is also in the style in which one would expect in this elegant property, cosy bedrooms decorated in a romantic style with delicately matched fabrics, drapes adorning the beds and window, and wonderful old designed en suite bathrooms. All this is there to make you feel as welcome as possible.

Château du Parc sits on its own in nine hectares of beautiful landscape gardens with fishponds, trimmed hedges, trees and shrubs. Bordeaux is approx. 1 hr from the coastal town of Arcachon famous for the sand dunes approx. 2hrs. The famous vineyards of St. Emilion are 45 mins. Restaurants to sample local cuisine are within easy access, and for the wine connoisseur, vineyards are in abundance. There is also an excellent choice of 18 hole golf courses all within easy reach of the Château.

Château du Parc Ground floor: Wonderful grand entrance hall complete with chandelier. To the right of the hall is a narrow hallway leading to a comfortable lounge with the original stone fireplace, following into the dining room and office. Beautifully furnished double bedroom with en suite. A very large farmhouse kitchen that is well equipped. Across the hall is the billiard room and library.

We had a wonderful holiday at the chateau, and we were entirely happy with the service. It is such a beautiful place, the grounds are stunning. We also used the tennis court much more than anticipated, the youngsters really enjoyed themselves. All of the bedrooms were great, and the space around the building meant we were not on top of one another.

I am very grateful that Philip Boden-Smith was able to play the piano, he entertained several times during the week. Thank you.

"14 adults and 11 children make their way to Chateau du Parc for a week to celebrate seven of the groups 40ths. People arrive from Malaysia, India, USA, Australia and England. I feel a great pressure for the place to be fantastic, being the person who organised it all. It didn't disappoint. Without exception everyone loved the property. It is clearly someone's home and has retained that feeling. It has a used, historic and old school feeling and has not been effected by fashion. The gardens are beautiful and there is a great sense of space both in and outside. We were blessed with stunning weather and opted for dinners to be catered for. The cook and his wife were delightful, nothing was too much trouble and they really added to our experience.

The staff were efficient and very friendly. Overall a stunning, well managed property with lovely grounds and set in a beautiful, unspoilt part of France. 25 happy customers who will be back!"
