Chateau de Challet.
Only 30 Minutes from Angers this elegant Chateau was Designed by Visconti, and built by Rene Honde, the Chateau de Challet was completed in 1854 as a private residence for Count Rochefoucauld and his family. The structure is a marvel to behold; 150ft limestone walls contain 365 windows, 52 fireplaces, and 12 turrets, as well as countless sculptural details along the facade.
The splendour continues inside. Masterfully carved wood panelling and cabinetry, stunning hand-painted ceilings, and flawlessly chosen decor make each salon an historic holidays experience. Situated on beautiful grounds, the Chateau complex makes up one corner of a small village, which also has shops, a cathedral, and many summer events. Accommodation comprises of 5 luxurious suites, accommodating 14 persons
In the tower you will discover a room of silk, a king size canopy bed (220m) with silk curtains to close yourselves in. A fire place filled with candles sets the mood. A spare room for a third person .The bathroom is aged marble. The suite also has a fireplace with candles, a separate w/c and a shower. The beauty of this room is the hand painted ceiling dating back to 1854, the year the Chateau was completed.
The view outside the grand window is of the south lawn and Lake. This suite’s oversized tub situated next to a hand carved fireplace. An adjoining room has a beautiful sled bed filled with pillows. Bathroom has bath and shower. This suite, which includes a grand silk king size bed, full bath, wc separate salon.
The original master bedroom has all the authentic furnishing. The Canopy bed is hand carved oak standing fourteen feet tall. A second bedroom with two twin beds is connected by a dressing room and bathroom. This suite is also beautifully designed with with authentic furnishings and has king size bed with en-suite bathroom.
There is a beautifully laid park with a lake for pleasant walks however this property has no swimming pool.
